Time to give you a bit of Goose news! We have been relatively quiet since our latest gig in Cardigan in August 2024 (what a gig that was and a way to say goodbye to the best festival on Earth). Since then we’ve gone through life and this has slowed down the goose. Antoine doesn’t live locally anymore and Ade has suffered a big heart attack that would have annihilated most of people, but not him. He has since made a brilliant recovery and the Goose can once more shake its wings and hiss in all general directions.

We have a few plans under her wing, involving a new release next year with Fruits de Mer Records but we can’t say too much about it just now. We’re also in the process of writing new songs, that will probably mark the entering in a new (moon) phase and we can’t wait to share all this with you and see you back live!

Today is the 5th anniversary of our second album The Wax Monster Lives Behind the First Row of Trees, released on 15th September 2020!
This album will always be a very special one, released in between lockdowns and during a year that was hard for everybody. Releasing the Wax Monster felt a bit like a conjuring of the whole period, a way to get back out there and have fun.
These photos are part of a photoshoot that was used for the inner sleeves of the album. You never know what you’ll find when you start wandering on the hills… Like a strange mushroom feeding on a goose egg nesting in a tree on the Welsh borders. The goose egg is clearly the vessel to other worlds!
If you feel like you’ve been missing out, we still have a few Wax Monster on Bandcamp on vinyl (second pressing) and CD!

We had a blast in Cardigan, as usual! It felt really good to see familiar faces. It was our first gig with Ellis since Dave fell off his goose, and it went smoothly. The set was a mix of oldies and not so oldies including the first partial live rendition of Rhesus David. Check out this documentary done by Ramon Piserra, featuring all the bands of the festival including us for Second Life live and an interview.

Murmurations describe a natural phenomenon in which a large group of starlings fly in unison using complex laws of movement depending on the relative birds around each individual. This behaviour can be observed on land in herds and under the sea in schools of fish. They are the natural answer of the collective facing a common danger. What seems to be engineered by the mind of one leader is actually generated by every individual’s awareness of the group, working together towards their collective fate. There must be a lesson there. Moon Geese (mean geese) murmurations are very rare because there aren’t any predators on the Moon except for a few quickly gone humans and a couple multilingual slow bots on wheels.

Murmurations is Moon Goose’s fourth LP, recorded and mixed at Twin Peaks Studio, Wales, by Adam Fuest (Mott the Hoople, Babyshambles, The Cure) and published by Fruits de Mer Records and Inflatable Tarmac Records.

The eight tracks featured in Murmurations were whispered by the Barn to the band on dark, icy nights, disturbing the quietness of the Welsh countryside with unrestricted turmoil.

Moon Goose put Space, Psych, Prog, and Motorik in a bag, shook it, poked it, and burned it, then spread the ashes from the top of the Welsh Mountains with the wind in their faces until their eyes were crying black tears.

This LP features 8 tracks of musical weirdness and we have tried really hard to channel the goose in each one of use and let them express their feelings. This is also our first collaboration with (tangible) Leon West and we’re very excited about the result.

The Wax Monster Lives Behind the First Rows of Trees occupies a liminal space: between EP and album, between Iowa and Hanoi, between druid and mushroom, between life before COVID and life after it.

Full of secret communications, the record is best understood as a piece of bricolage held together by a childhood ghost, manifesting in such diverse places as a Vietnamese Banknote and an imaginary cave on the Iowa border.

The original pressing of 550 of double LP clear & white vinyl (cd included) sold out on the day of release. We’ve since pressed more vinyl (black this time) and got some nice digipaks too.
